Learn to study efficiently, and more importantly, shift how you think about yourself while studying and taking the exams.
Take control of your mind so that you can pass your exams faster, with less anxiousness, and get licensed within the next year.

Dear Licensed-Architect-To-Be,
You may be reading this because you've failed at least one of your licensure exams, at least once. Your confidence has taken a big hit.
Being a licensed architect is your dream.
You put in the years at school, survived all-nighters, landed an architectur job after graduation, and work hard at the office.
But ... when it comes to passing the ARE® or CSE, you flounder.
You study but still fail.
You feel stuck.
When you sat down to take your exam, your brain froze.
You felt like you'd forgotten everything.
Maybe you panicked.
Your nerves took over, and you didn’t get the results you wanted.
Now you worry all your effort was for nothing. You wonder if you can ever get licensed.
It's impacting your self-esteem at work, and you're questioning whether it's worth it.
You realize there's more to this than just logging study hours: you've done that and still failed.
I know you're learning code books, contracts, construction methods, building systems, design and management principles. I know, because I was there. I struggled to pass several ARE exams (I had to pass 9!), then the CSE. (And I had to take the CSE in-person! What a story!) Despite classes, study hours, and almost 10 years of experience by the time I was eligible, I failed the CSE the first time.
What changed the second time? I still studied and took practice exams, but I also focused on nourishing my body, quality sleep, relaxing, and shifting my mindset.
I wish someone had told me about these tools that I’m sharing back then.
When we fail important exams like the ARE® and CSE, we put ourselves through worry, fear, and stress. The fear is sometimes justified: we fail, and the "I told you so" inner story begins. None of this helps, but it's hard to stop without the right tools before and during exams.
I’ve been exactly where you are now.
Now I want to give back to the architecture profession by helping more people achieve their dream of licensure. It's the final step after graduation and AXP: a door to close and a door to open.
Let me help you get there with less stress, worry, and fear, and in less time.
I'll help you stay motivated, maintain momentum, and develop consistent study habits. (If you need help with study habits, we can start there: college strategies often don't work when managing a full-time job, social life, and family.)
Study materials exist for these tests. What they don't include is one-to-one customized mindset support from a licensed architect who passed 20+ certification exams, worked 20+ years as a technical architect, and is also a certified coach and hypnotherapist.
By working with a California licensed architect who understands struggling with the ARE® and CSE while working in a busy office, you'll benefit from my years of experience and training.
I spent years figuring out how to lower stress's impact on my mind and body to excel in a deadline-driven profession without burning out. Let me share this with you.
By your side,
~ Mel
(PS. I did burn out…you don’t have to if you don’t want to! Let me teach you now so you don’t suffer any longer)
Who: Folks struggling to pass the ARE® or CSE.
What: I teach and guide you to relax your own mind in an empowering, natural, safe way, plus coaching and mentoring to address work and life issues impacting your progress.
Where: Zoom meetings for 4 weeks, 1.5 to 2-hour private and customized sessions. (Evening slots Tues – Thurs and some Saturday mornings for those working rigid full-time schedules. I know how hard it can be to get away from work and deadlines. I’ve been there.)
When: Start 4 weeks before your next exam to benefit from all the techniques, habit shifts, and develop the self-hypnosis practice. Schedule your initial application call about 6-7 weeks before your exam date for intake and scheduling. You’ll need your exam scheduled by the time of your foundational First Session.
How We Start: Everyone begins with a Foundation Session covering:
How hypnosis works and why I say “all hypnosis is self-hypnosis.”
Using it for test-taking and learning skills
Co-creating affirmations and visualizations to act on immediately.
Includes a 5–7-minute personalized self-hypnosis recording and my Self-Hypnosis PDF Guide.
How We Continue: The remaining three sessions are customized based on your goals, habits, past exam experiences, and mindset. These may include any combination of the following:
Coaching, mentoring, co-creating personalized affirmations and visualizations.
Study habit tools based on your learning style
Shifting unhelpful self-thoughts, reducing exam stress tools to use during the exams, and lowering the negative impact of past failed exams (if applicable).
Includes daily homework to accelerate your ability to lower your anxiousness, stay productive while studying, and build relaxation skills. Session may include 2-3 recordings to help you stay goal-focused and manage exam anxiousness.
Deep relaxation of the mind and body is one of the most accessible ways to lower test anxiety.
... What if you could relax so much that you experienced heightened mental clarity during your exam?
... What if you could easily and quickly tap into all of that information from the hours of studying, previously closed off by stress?
... What if you could do this alone, in your mind: usable even in testing centers with proctors watching?
This is what I teach.
I'll teach you to develop a consistent self-hypnosis practice that lowers test-taking anxiety and worry.
You'll learn how to tap into your subconscious through relaxation.
By building this practice, you'll deeply relax your mind so it can open the door to all of the knowledge you have been learning.

Sign up for a no-pressure call to see if we're a fit. No commitment required. Just share whether you feel excited to move forward together. If not, no problem at all.

If we both decide we are a fit, we can move forward to the paperwork phase, discuss payment options, and schedule your first session. This is necessary groundwork for a solid foundation.

Your first session is a stand-alone foundational call. It’s as a deposit on your exam prep transformation. Afterwards, I’ll send you a personalized self-hypnosis recording for daily use to help you pass your exam with more ease. If we decide to move forward, we’ll schedule your next three sessions.

We meet weekly for 1.5 to 2 hours sessions to help you lower your exam anxiety and build better prep habits.

Listen to your recordings daily until exam day so you feel prepared and less anxious during the exam.

You take your exam feeling relaxed and prepared to succeed.

Fair question. If you truly want to pass your exams and are ready to get licensed and move forward, you'll benefit most from this offer. If you struggle against the idea of these exams or the "bureaucracy" of the profession, consider how those views might limit your success in architecture.
That's why I offer the first foundational session as a stand-alone session.
You'll learn how the mind works from a hypnosis perspective, how to enter a natural hypnotic state, and receive a 5–7 minute personalized recording to help you relax and stay focused. You'll also get my Self-Hypnosis How-To PDF Guide.
No hard sales pitch at the end. If you're ready to schedule 3 more sessions, just say, "sign me up for the exam prep package."
I know this can be tough. Asking for help is hard. Worried coworkers will think it's "woo"? I hear you. Movies and stage shows have created myths where a hypnotist "makes" someone do something crazy. Those misconceptions keep people from learning this fun, relaxing tool. But there's real science behind it. You can learn more about that here.
Why would anyone cluck like a chicken on stage? Because they want to have fun, trust the hypnotist, and relax. When we do funny things, we feel relaxed.
Truth is, we can't be made to do what we don't want to without force or coercion. Folks who cluck at the county fair want to—because it feels good to relax, laugh, and be silly without ill effects.
Hypnosis is my main modality, but I'm also a California licensed architect with almost 30 years in the profession.
You're signing up for mentoring and coaching from someone who understands exactly what you're going through, and who will help you learn to deeply relax your mind so you can be more creative and help yourself pass these exams.
When you pass that exam you've been struggling with, you won't worry about what others think—you'll be too busy celebrating.
There's potential it won't. Many factors are at play. We meet once a week for 90–120 minutes—there's lots of time between calls I can't control.
You have to want to pass these exams. You have to want to get licensed in your state.
Passing a license exam includes more than mindset shifts: good sleep, nourishment, lifestyle optimizations we can work on together. And this assumes you're studying the right material.
The upside: you won't have wasted much time. You'll benefit from relaxation, one-on-one support with someone who listens, and coaching through lifestyle and mindset issues blocking your success.
If you're absolutely unhappy at any point, I'll refund unused sessions.
No. This program isn't about exam content—you should have access to applicable study materials before your first session.
It's designed to help you pass with less anxiety and get licensed more quickly by staying motivated.
This program is not a replacement for good study material or consistent study habits.
If this program might be a fit, schedule a call and fill out my Aspiring Architects Application.
It's very important to me that we are a fit for each other: that's part of your success.
Click the link below to book a 30-minute consult.
We'll discuss your situation, and I'll address any concerns about my process, credentials or hypnosis.
If you sign up, you're only committing to the first foundational session, not the entire package.
After the first session, you'll know if this is a fit.
Remember, learning how to design your mind so you can design your life may be one of the best tools to add to your toolbox to help you pass the ARE® exams and feel more successful.
